I am reading 1 Samuel, and David is one slick son-of-a-gun. He knows that LORD (YHWH) fights the battles for him; in one case, he comes back with the foreskins of Philistines, which isn't a pretty picture in my head, and I imagine a movie would gloss over this detail, but it's interesting. He does some things that are questionable, such as take the consecrated bread from the temple after lying about it. (Jesus talks about this as evidence of how helping one to live is better than keeping rituals). Hmm.
